What year did you start CrossFit?
I started doing CrossFit type workouts in 2017, was only doing them for a couple of months, and was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a double mastectomy and 10 weeks later reconstructive surgery. I couldn’t do any workouts for several months and had to start from scratch for anything requiring chest muscles. The doctors said the workouts I did prior to surgery helped me recover so quickly.

Why did you join CrossFit?
I joined CrossFit because Tim made me lol. Seriously we had been runners before CrossFit (half marathons, 5k) and Tim kept telling me my running would improve if I got a stronger core. I started doing CrossFit and my running got faster. He was right, but don’t tell him!

Why do you want me to join CrossFit?
I want people to join CrossFit to stay active. I want to show people who think they are too old, too overweight, too out of shape, too intimidated that they can do CrossFit. It can be scaled to any level, the coaches and athletes are very knowledgeable and non-intimidating. I want people to stay active as they age, many CrossFit movements are functional activities we use in our daily lives. One of my favorite quotes is, “Don’t let the old person into your daily life”........stay active don’t become the old person sitting around, having trouble doing everyday tasks.

Where do you work?
I am a retired teacher. I taught at the School of Hope for 30 years.
