What is CrossFit?

“Constantly Varied, Functional Movement, Executed at High Intensity”

  • Constantly varied

  • Why? To expand the margins of experience, because we fail at the margins of experience.

  • What do we vary?

  • Movements

  • Loads

  • Time domains

  • Reps

  • The goal of CF is to create balance and generalization

  • Variance is NOT random

  • Functional Movement

    • Natural to Human Movement

    • Universal Recruitment Pattern

    • Essential to a high quality of life

    • Are safe relative to non-functional movements

    • Core to Extremity 

    • Move Large Loads long distances quickly (high power movements)

  • Performed at High Intensity

    • What is Intensity? It is the amount of power we generate

    • Intensity is relative to each individual – this makes CF scalable

    • Intensity is found at the limits of physical and psychological boundaries

    • Why high intensity?  It is the most effective way to get increases in power
